The Goldfields Brass Band is a community band based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Western Australia. It is now the only community brass band in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, giving free tuition to learners young and old and performing at events in and around the Goldfields.
It was founded by the late Mr Fred Asher in 1963, starting out as the Boulder Primary School Brass Band. As membership varied over the years, the name was changed to Boulder Council Youth Band, Boulder Council Brass Band, and finally, Goldfields Brass Band.
Rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening at the old Court House, Burt Street, Boulder.
The Band recently competed in the State Band Champions in Perth, winning in the D Grade division.
There will be a Massed Brass Band, with members from all over the state, playing at the Perth Royal Show in September. Many members of the Goldfields Brass Band will be travelling to Perth to take part. The Massed Band will be playing two performances, on the afternoons of Sunday, 27th September and Monday, 28th September.
In 2013, the band will be hosting a reunion of past members to celebrate 50 years of operation. If you would like to help with preparations, please contact the secretary.
